The Cabildo de La Palma has made the monthly implementation of the 60% IRPF deduction for residents an undeniable political priority, seeking direct and urgent fiscal relief for the island's families.

The island's president, Sergio Rodríguez, reiterated this demand after meeting with key economic sectors. The proposal aims to transform the annual bonus into a direct income that residents of La Palma receive monthly, rather than waiting for their tax returns.

"We cannot wait for the tax declaration when the cost of living and fuel increase every week. Families need that money today to face the cost of living."

La Palma's productive sector has voiced concern over an already struggling economy, now facing the repercussions of the conflict in the Middle East. The unanimous request is for the tax benefit to be structured so that workers receive relief immediately in their paychecks, injecting liquidity into the internal market.
Rodríguez criticized the State's “lack of sensitivity,” pointing out that La Palma is not in the same situation as other islands and that the Spanish Government has ignored its specific circumstances. He recalled that the island carries a historical funding deficit due to unsettled state debts and has yet to receive a response to its request to relax fiscal rules, which would allow the Cabildo to use its own resources to help citizens.

"We are working to generate an ecosystem of resilience. The monthly application of IRPF is the most effective tool to boost our economy against an international challenge that hits us hard. It is time for the State to fulfill its commitment to La Palma."

The institution has given economic sectors a short deadline to consolidate all technical proposals into a document of demands, which will be submitted to the relevant administrations.
