The vessel, located north of the island, lost propulsion during the early hours. The crew members themselves alerted to their situation by making a distress call to the Coordination Center of Las Palmas of Maritime Rescue.
Upon receiving the alert, the rescue vessel Salvamar Al Nair was dispatched. Simultaneously, other vessels transiting the area were asked for cooperation to locate the distressed ship and gather more information about its condition.
The ship Ciudad de Valencia responded to the request, located the vessel in distress, and remained nearby, monitoring until the rescue team arrived.
Due to the significant distance, approximately 70 miles from Arrecife, the Salvamar Al Nair could not begin the firm tow until nine in the morning. The return journey to Lanzarote then commenced.
The fishing boat is expected to reach the island around eight in the evening or night, given the length of the journey. Sources from Maritime Rescue confirmed the good condition of the eleven crew members, although they did not specify the name of the fishing boat or its home port.
