The third edition of the Lanzarote International Cup has wrapped up at the Lanzarote Sports City, bringing together over 120 teams and establishing itself as a benchmark in international youth football. Throughout the championship, more than 300 matches were played across twelve fields island-wide, featuring national and international clubs alongside a significant Canarian representation.
The closing ceremony was attended by prominent institutional figures, including the president of the Canary Islands Parliament, Astrid Pérez; the vice-president of the Canary Islands Government, Manuel Domínguez; and the Sports Minister of the Canary Islands Government, Poli Suárez, among other officials.
In the U13 category, Sevilla FC secured the gold phase title, followed by Manchester City and CD Tenerife. In the silver phase, San Bartolomé CF emerged as the champion. The U11 category saw Real Betis Balompié claim the gold phase championship, with FC Barcelona and Valencia CF completing the podium. In the silver phase, Veteranos del Pilar took the top spot.
The U10 category, one of the most popular, also saw Real Betis Balompié win the gold phase, with Benfica and Betis Academy Chenet on the podium. CD Inter Fuerteventura led the silver phase.
Institutional representatives such as Manuel Domínguez and Poli Suárez highlighted the Canary Islands Government's support for youth sports and the event's growth. The vice-president of the Lanzarote Island Council, María Jesús Tovar, emphasized the tournament's expansion potential and its synergy with tourism and community.
The event also underscored the tournament's social commitment to inclusion. Volunteers from LanzaroTEA and participants from the documentary series Mi Lugar Favorito displayed an orange banner to promote equality and awareness of disabilities. The organization provided a 'Punto Naranja' (Orange Point) to offer guidance to individuals with disabilities.
These initiatives complement the tournament's sustainability efforts, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. Collaborations with the Arrecife Natura Association, a focus on sustainable mobility, and fundraising for local social entities reinforce the event's commitment.
