‘Ktálisis nómada’, an autonomous extension of the ‘Ktálisis’ project from the La Regenta Art Center, aims to foster students' artistic and creative abilities, as well as their understanding of artistic languages and critical thinking. The initiative is part of the Cultural Rights Plan of the Ministry of Culture.
At IES San Sebastián in La Gomera, Rafael Arocha is conducting ‘La mirada espejo’ (The Mirror Gaze), a pedagogical proposal where photographic practice serves as a vehicle for students to develop critical thinking skills regarding the daily flood of images they consume. "We seek to develop the analysis and reading of images, and the critical review of a language that affects us all," Arocha explained.
Concurrently, at IES en Altavista in Lanzarote, artist and cultural mediator Roberto F. Perdomo has launched ‘La historia menuda de Canarias’ (The Small History of the Canary Islands). Early sessions have focused on a multicultural approach centered on Canarian heritage. Students have engaged directly with clay, connecting with ancestral aboriginal pottery techniques. The project aims to turn students into 'mahos' (guardians of heritage), fostering a sense of belonging based on shared commitment to caring for their environment.
The program, which selected projects from seven artists with pedagogical experience, will continue in 2027 with activities in El Hierro, Tenerife, and La Palma, concluding the edition in June.
