The Fuerteventura Agricultural, Livestock, and Fishing Fair (FEAGA) 2026 has paid a heartfelt tribute to the agricultural professionals of Fuerteventura, acknowledging their invaluable work and dedication to the island's primary sector.

The event, held within the framework of FEAGA 2026, was attended by the island's president and the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries. Together with mayors and councilors from the area, they presented the Juan de Saá and Armando Melián awards. The latter was awarded posthumously, highlighting the contributions of several farmers from different municipalities across the island.

"They are an example for all of Fuerteventura's society and administrations. It is essential that citizens recognize the work they have done and that they receive the recognition they deserve."

Among those honored was a farmer from Antigua, recognized for his contribution to the sector through a family business founded in 2014. Another awardee, from La Oliva, was distinguished for a lifetime dedicated to agriculture, while a professional from Pájara, who began his activity in 1969, was praised for his efforts in supporting his family through farming.
From Puerto del Rosario, a female farmer shared her experience, recounting how she dedicated herself to agricultural tasks from a young age, a tradition she has passed down to her children and grandchildren. The posthumous recognition for a farmer from Tuineje highlighted his promotion of associativism and his role in establishing an aloe factory, as well as his advocacy for significant advancements in the sector, such as the agreement for agricultural water subsidies.
Finally, another promoter of agricultural associativism, who led the agricultural cooperative of Gran Tarajal for 28 years, also received an award, thus reinforcing the fair's commitment to valuing agricultural work in Fuerteventura.
