Staff from the four nurseries in Pájara, Fuerteventura, have announced an indefinite strike starting April 27, 2026, backed by Intersindical Canaria, due to the City Council's failure to integrate workers into the municipal staff.

This industrial action comes after months of waiting and the absence of a negotiated solution from the Pájara City Council. The main demand of the workers is their full incorporation into the municipal workforce, which would lead to a significant improvement in their working conditions.

After months of waiting, unanswered letters, and continuous evasions, the Pájara City Council has not materialized the agreed-upon solution: the integration of staff from the four nurseries in Pájara casco, La Lajita, Costa Calma, and Morro Jable into the municipal workforce and the improvement of their working conditions.

Intersindical Canaria has expressed its full support for the strike committee, highlighting that this issue has been ongoing for years, creating a series of difficulties for the staff. Key concerns include staff shortages, work overload, labor inequality, and neglect of the educational centers.

"We are talking about a problem that has been going on for years: lack of staff, work overload, labor inequality, and neglect of the centers."

The union demands a real and immediate solution to end this situation and ensure stability and adequate working conditions for the nursery staff in Pájara.
