The Gofio and Water Procession will fill the historic center streets of Agüimes with tradition this Saturday, September 26th, for its 49th edition. This event is one of the most anticipated moments of the Festivals of Our Lady of the Rosary, which will extend until October 13th with a varied cultural and festive program.
The festive weekend begins on Friday, September 25th, at 8:00 PM in the Agüimes Auditorium Theater with the play ‘La reata de los doce camellos’, based on the 1708 Agüimes mutiny. At 10:00 PM, the Plaza del Rosario will host concerts by Agua del Chorro and Mel Ömana.
On Saturday, the 49th Gofio Procession will commemorate the ancient path to the mills. Attendees will gather near the mill of Ananías y Lolita around 4:30 PM to begin the procession at 7:00 PM, accompanied by the Banda Isleña. The Plaza del Rosario will be the arrival point, where from 9:30 PM onwards, a verbena will feature Mekánica by Tamarindos, Grupo Acuarela, DJ Event Music, and Orquesta Star Music.
On Sunday, September 27th, the Plaza del Rosario will host a fun park starting at 12:00 PM, aimed at children and families, to conclude the weekend's activities.
The festival program will continue until October 13th, including concerts by Javier Ruibal Trío and Iván Quintana y Besay Pérez with the Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra, the 43rd Villa de Agüimes Regional Dance Festival, and the Young Night with Orishas. On October 3rd, the 30th Romería y Ofrenda (Pilgrimage and Offering) will be held, followed by dances and performances. October 4th will feature a Livestock Fair and the Garrote Wrestling Championship.
