The municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana is hosting its Primary Sector Week, an event that until Saturday offers a program of activities focused on dissemination, tradition, and highlighting local agriculture and livestock.

Activities are taking place at the Casa de la Cultura de Sardina and in the pedestrian area of Avenida de Canarias, including talks, zero-kilometer product tastings, screenings, and traditional exhibitions.
The event began on Tuesday with a conference on sustainable water management in Santa Lucía, given by an expert from the Technological Institute of Canarias, who addressed current challenges in water resource utilization and efficient management.
The program continued on Wednesday with an oil, cheese, and wine tasting, held at the old hermitage of Sardina. Attendees had the opportunity to sample local products linked to the island's primary sector.
One of the highlighted events will be on Thursday, with the screening of the documentary Santa Lucía y el tomate: semillas de la historia (Santa Lucía and the Tomato: Seeds of History). This work reviews the impact of tomato cultivation on the economy and society of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, and recalls the historical trajectory of agricultural weeks in the municipality.
The Primary Sector Week will conclude on Saturday with a cattle dragging exhibition in Avenida de Canarias. This traditional display aims to bring one of the most representative practices of the Canarian rural world closer to the public.

"These initiatives highlight our primary sector and help disseminate our history, which is closely linked to agriculture and livestock."
