The Government of the Canary Islands has laid the first stone for the new roundabout on the GC-200 road, at its intersection with Avenida de la Constitución in Mogán, with an investment of €817,416.81.

The new roundabout, located at kilometer point 58+990 of the GC-200 road, has the main objective of increasing road safety, organizing traffic movements, and improving circulation flow at one of the main access points to the municipality of Mogán. The action has been promoted by the Ministry of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The first stone-laying ceremony was attended by the Minister of Public Works, Housing, and Mobility, Pablo Rodríguez, the Director General of Road Infrastructure, Rosana Melián, the Mayoress of Mogán, Onalia Bueno, and the Second Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Public Services and Public Works of the City Council, Juan Ernesto Hernández.
Pablo Rodríguez highlighted the importance of this work for the municipality and the island of Gran Canaria, describing it as an action that will improve mobility in the south of the island. He noted that the roundabout will bring about a significant change in access to the center of Mogán, making travel more agile, safe, and efficient. This long-demanded project is the first phase of a comprehensive strategy to transform mobility in Mogán.
The minister also announced that the Taurito tunnel project, a road closed after a landslide, will be put out to tender this year 2026, with an investment exceeding 12 million euros to address a historic demand and enhance the safety and connections of the municipality.
For her part, the Mayoress of Mogán, Onalia Bueno, recalled that the creation of this roundabout was a historic demand between 2015 and 2019. She stated that the Government of the Canary Islands is thus fulfilling its commitment, and that this action will be complemented by others such as the southern extension of Drago street and the GC-200 bypass.
The new roundabout will replace the current intersection, facilitating entry and exit from the GC-200 to Avenida de la Constitución and improving traffic conditions at a point with a significant volume of traffic.
The works, awarded to the company Lopesan Asfaltos y Construcciones, S.A.U., consist of remodeling the intersection to organize traffic, eliminate conflicting movements, improve visibility, and promote more fluid and efficient circulation. The intervention is part of the Ministry's strategy to modernize the road network of the Canary Islands.
