Goalkeeper Aarón Alonso, a key player in Coria's recent promotion to Primera RFEF, has shared his thoughts on his most outstanding season and his professional future. After a year in which he has become a hero, especially after saving a crucial penalty in the second leg of the promotion playoff at the Carlos Tartiere, Alonso expresses satisfaction and looks forward to continued growth.
The decision to leave the island last season, seeking playing time and prominence, has been fundamental to his development. "If football forces you to make the decision to go abroad, anyone who truly wants to be a footballer knows they have to do it," stated the goalkeeper, who played for CD Tenerife's reserve team the previous year. Despite family comfort and affection for his home club, sporting necessity took precedence.
The promotion with Coria, an objective "nobody expected" at the start of the season, became a historic achievement for the Extremaduran club. Alonso recalls the emotion of the moment, calling the penalty save "the most important" of his young career, given the match's significance and his age. "You're playing in the playoffs, trying to move up a category and make history with the club," he said.
This season has marked a turning point for the goalkeeper, who has gained the necessary confidence to face new challenges. "I think this season has been very important, not just for the minutes, but for gaining confidence," he noted. Although his contract with Coria has ended and he is a free agent, Alonso trusts his agent's management to find the best destination.
Regarding a possible return to CD Tenerife, the goalkeeper does not close any doors. "The door should not be closed to Tenerife or any club," he assured, acknowledging that "any child would love to play for their hometown team." The possibility of reuniting with the Tenerife club in the future is a scenario that excites the player.
