The General Body of the Canarian Police has deployed an inspection operation around the Tenerife South Airport to detect and prevent irregular passenger transport.

The main objective of these actions is to guarantee compliance with current regulations, user safety, and fair competition among land transport operators.
During the operation, officers carried out selective checks on vehicles operating in the airport's influence area, with particular attention to those potentially offering passenger transport services without the required administrative authorization. These measures aim to identify irregularities and enhance protection for both users and transport sector professionals.
In parallel, inspections were conducted on regular passenger transport vehicles to verify that services are provided under adequate safety conditions and comply with passenger transport regulations. Checks were also performed to prevent the introduction of prohibited items or substances inside vehicles, contributing to a safe travel environment.
These efforts involved the Transport Group, the Citizen Security Unit, and the Canine Guides Group of the General Body of the Canarian Police, with the participation of canine agents Dira, Tirma, Xena, and Kira, whose work reinforced the effectiveness of preventive inspections by providing specialized operational support in detecting non-permitted substances.
Furthermore, tachograph inspections were carried out to ensure compliance with labor and safety regulations, analyzing the correct application of rules regarding driving times, mandatory breaks, and rest periods, which are crucial elements for preventing occupational risks and ensuring road safety in land transport.
The General Body of the Canarian Police emphasized that these types of operations will continue to be developed periodically at strategic points across the island's transport network to reinforce legality, safety, and the quality of public passenger transport services in the Canary Islands.
