Travelers affected by Sunday's flight interruption are hoping to complete their journey this Monday. The new departure is scheduled for 11:00 AM, and passengers are already at the airport to check in their luggage.
One of the passengers, identified as Luis, told Radio Televisión Canaria that while he remained calmer, other travelers experienced moments of "terror and anguish" due to a "strong tremor".
The incident occurred on Sunday at 12:55 PM when an Airbus A330 from Plus Ultra aborted its takeoff during the runway roll. The aircraft, bound for Valencia (Venezuela), was later moved to the terminal for a safety inspection.
The maneuver forced the closure of the Tenerife North Airport runway for approximately 13 minutes, until 1:08 PM. It coincided with the arrival of a helicopter from the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) to evacuate a young man seriously injured in a quad bike accident in Adeje.
Coordination between emergency services, the control tower, and airport personnel ensured both operations were conducted safely. Once the Airbus A330 was removed and the runway inspection completed, the airport resumed normal operations at 1:08 PM, with no significant delays to other flights.
The Plus Ultra connection between Tenerife and Venezuela typically operates on weekends, arriving on Saturdays and departing on Sundays around midday.
