The venue, named 'San Pietro' chicharrero, covers an area of 42,200 square meters and will feature five access gates after passing three perimeter security checks. The organization has meticulously attended to every detail, including general rehearsals for the choir and orchestra, and the installation of a roof to ensure shade.
The central celebration area, spanning 900 square meters, is situated by the water and is bordered by volcanic soil and native vegetation to contextualize the location. The highest point, at 3.10 meters, will be reserved for the papal presidency, accompanied by the Bishop of Tenerife, Eloy Santiago.
Six large screens have been installed to facilitate visibility for pilgrims, and 220 chemical toilets have been set up around the perimeter. The stage design is inspired by Bramante's Greek cross plan for St. Peter's Basilica, with a zenithal light for the papal chair and four sacristies for liturgical organization and the entourage.
The arrival of the Cristo de La Laguna and the Virgen de Candelaria, representative images of Canarian religiosity, is expected to accompany the Eucharist. Pope Leo XIV's visit to Spain began on the 6th, taking him through Madrid, Barcelona, and Gran Canaria before his final stop in Tenerife.
