The project, subsidized by the Canary Employment Service with 354,898.89 euros and co-financed by the State Public Employment Service, received an additional municipal contribution. The initiative, which began on December 1st and concluded on August 31st, hired 25 people for eight months, including a teacher, an administrative assistant, a foreman, and 22 student-workers in street cleaning.
The mayor, Mari Brito, and the councilor for Public Works and Services, Jorge Baute, bid farewell to the students, highlighting their commitment and the acquired job opportunities. They emphasized their pride in the training received, which significantly enhances the employability of the group, mainly composed of women over 45, many of them over 60.
The training results are positive: 90% of the students passed the Level 2 key competencies in Mathematics and Spanish Language, and at Level 3, 85.7% passed Spanish Language and 76.2% Mathematics. Complementary training actions were also provided to enhance their professional qualifications.
This type of project has an impact that extends beyond employability, positively influencing self-esteem, the recovery of work habits, and combating the isolation often associated with prolonged unemployment. The public works carried out by the participants, such as cleaning and maintaining public spaces, contribute to improving the environment and the quality of life for the citizens of Candelaria.
