The town of Los Realejos displayed its gastronomic potential at the GastroCanarias 2026 fair, held until May 21st, under the 'Gastronomic Reflections' concept. The municipal strategy, described by mayor Adolfo González as an "aesthetic and conceptual leap in quality," featured 25 activities designed to promote zero-kilometer foods and the town's industry professionals.
Tourism Councilor José David Cabrera highlighted that the 'Gastronomy of Los Realejos' stand offered thousands of visitors "multiple excuses to approach and taste our rich product offerings." The initiative allowed the public to get to know not only the foods but also local chefs, pastry chefs, winemakers, sommeliers, and producers who worked 'on-site' and explained their creations in showcookings.
Adolfo González celebrated the success of the proposal, which has "conquered palates" with a differentiated approach. The potential of the municipality's wines, pastries, gofio, craft beers, cheeses, meats, and other primary sector products has been showcased, reinforced by the local professionals.
José David Cabrera emphasized that the presence at GastroCanarias has become a "classic" and a "referent space," using the platform to exhibit the "quality of products and talent" of those who create them. The program revolved around concepts such as 'life,' 'creation,' 'commitment,' 'effort,' 'tradition,' and 'land,' including tastings, pairings, and a healthy school menu.
Furthermore, within the framework of the fair, Los Realejos presented the third edition of its Bonita Potato Cooking Contest, scheduled for July during the traditional Bonita Potato Gastronomic Exhibition, which is part of the Fiestas del Carmen.
