The Tías City Council has launched a project to significantly improve public lighting in the Los Lirios urbanization and its surroundings. The initiative, with an initial budget exceeding one million euros, includes the replacement of lamps and the installation of new light points on several key streets and paths in the area.
The works will be carried out in three distinct phases. One part will focus on the Camino de Los Lirios and its immediate vicinity. The second phase will prioritize the Los Lirios urbanization itself and adjacent roads. Finally, the third section will address Orquídea and Tajinaste streets, including their surrounding areas.
The project involves replacing existing lamps with more efficient and sustainable LED technology. Additionally, new light points will be installed, control and protection panels will be adapted, and new conduits will be laid, including manholes, cabling, and grounding. Any lighting elements that are no longer functional will be removed. The reuse of existing poles and other elements will be assessed during the execution of the work.
Separately, the tender to improve the environment of the Plaza del Varadero in Puerto del Carmen, launched at the end of 2025 with a budget of over 145,200 euros to enhance accessibility and safety, has been declared void. It remains to be seen if a new tender will be officially announced with a revised budget.
