A tragic incident occurred on Monday night in Fuerteventura, where a pedestrian, approximately 60 years old, lost his life and another individual of similar age sustained severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle on the FV-603 road, near Costa Calma, within the municipality of Pájara.
The Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 112 of the Canary Islands Government received an alert around 10:22 PM, reporting a serious pedestrian accident involving two individuals. Given the severity of the incident, the health coordinator immediately deployed the necessary emergency resources, including a medicalized helicopter that remained on standby for a potential urgent transfer to Gran Canaria.
Upon arrival at the scene, personnel from the Canary Emergency Medical Service (SUC) confirmed the death of one of the victims. The second pedestrian presented with a severe head trauma, receiving assistance and stabilization before being transported by a medicalized ambulance to the Morro Jable heliport.
From Morro Jable, the injured individual was evacuated by medicalized helicopter to the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria for specialized medical attention. The operation also involved personnel from the Guardia Civil, Local Police, and Firefighters of Pájara, who collaborated in assisting the affected individuals. The police forces have initiated the relevant proceedings to clarify the exact circumstances of the accident.
