Blood Donation Campaign in La Palma

The General Directorate of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy of the SCS launches a two-week campaign to facilitate donations on the island.

The General Directorate of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy of the Canarian Health Service (SCS) has launched the first blood donation campaign of the year in La Palma, lasting two weeks for residents and visitors.

The initiative begins today in Breña Alta, where the donation point will be available at Parque de Los Álamos from 3:45 PM to 8:45 PM. This campaign aims to ensure the blood supply on the island, which is vital for various medical interventions and emergencies.
Tomorrow, interested individuals can go to Plaza de Montserrat, in San Andrés y Sauces, from 4:00 PM to 8:45 PM. On Wednesday, donor community will be attended at CIFP Virgen de Las Nieves, from 1:15 PM to 6:00 PM, offering different options to participate.
To conclude the first week, the mobile donation unit will be set up on Calle O’Daly, in Santa Cruz de La Palma. It will be operational on Thursday from 3:45 PM to 9:00 PM and on Friday from 8:45 AM to 1:45 PM, facilitating donations in the capital's center.
In addition to the mobile points, the Hospital Universitario General de La Palma maintains a fixed blood extraction point. This center allows donations from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Fridays from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. On Sundays, the hours are from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, remaining closed on Saturdays.
To be a donor, it is necessary to be between 18 and 65 years old (up to 60 if it is your first donation), weigh more than 50 kilograms, be in good general health, and not be pregnant. For any questions, the General Directorate of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy offers the toll-free number 900 234 061.
